The Spaceship

That would be the name of the rental company we got our van from...

And about it breaking down… I was comfortably riding in the back seat with just enough wind blowing and just enough sun shining.  My head was back and I had my face was directed at the partially opened sun roof we have in the back of the car.  Well, I started to smell something and assumed it was a car in front of us, I peeked through the windshield and saw that the next car was a significant distance away but thought, “whatevs” and shrugged it off.  The next thing I know we’re slowing down and not too long after that pushing the car to the shoulder.  When you’re on a road trip in an old van I think that you’re supposed to break down, it’s a part of the experience LOL.  Waiting 5 hours for a tow truck and taxi wasn’t really a part of the plan but you have to go with what you got.
The taxi driver was a sweet elderly man that apparently was oblivious to where he was supposed to have taken us.  We were taken to a hotel; all got out and unloaded our belongings only to be told that we were at the wrong establishment.  Then we were given the wrong directions from there to another hotel.  We walked for about 20 minutes and then thought better of it and decided to try to seek out other directions (and food).  We smashed our food and asked for directions again.  We were told at the restaurant that the motel we were going to was a 1 ½ hour walk from where we were.  It was 8:30pm at that point and it had been a long day so that was not an option!  We walked to at least the correct street to check the numbers and saw we were at the 300ish addresses and just needed to walk to the 500ish address.  That is totally doable in less than hour.  Well, I then realized as we were walking along that their numbers go up 1… at… a… time…  So while it took less than the suggested time, it took longer than I thought it would.  Good workout though seeing as how I had a backpack behind me and one in front of me.  Thank God for mp3 players.

While we waited I was able to have some time to quiet myself and focus on alone time with God.  It was very peaceful and comforting.  I was grateful to Him that we had perfect weather, which had not been the case in the previous days, or even today with rain and clouds.  One of my road mates shared some quotes with me and I shared my music with him, the W.L.A.K. album of course :-)
We’ve been set back a day because the van has to go all the way back to Brisbane and another one has to be picked up from Brisbane but the place doesn’t open until 10am.  That means we won’t be able to leave from Hervey Bay (again) until an earliest time of 2pm.  Oh the joys of a road trips, expect the unexpected J

What we were traveling in...

"Hello" (after 2 hours) guy that is supposed to be helping to repair the van that did not and left us to wait for the tow truck for an additional 3+ hours.

View of the road from our stop off place.

Us...

$.50 mini pineapples here were yummy :-)

TOW TRUCK, FINALLY!

We ate at a chicken place and this random picture was on the all.  It was the equivalent of seeing this at a Church's Chicken. lol

We got put up in 2 pretty nice motel rooms for the night :-)
