Good Times in Seoul

Remember back to when I was in Sydney and I said that it was nothing like NYC like people had claimed?  Well, Seoul reminds me very much of NYC.  It has the same busyness and crowds of people and various areas with things going on at any given moment.  Daniel and I have been to Seoul a couple of times but to more historic type areas that I have shared on here and not so much in the city for the more modern feel.  We went with some friends from church via train this past week and although it was overwhelming it was pretty cool.

This was the train and not the subway which we usually take.  It was a lot quicker and we had seats the whole time.  I was planning on reading my Bible but thought not to because of the big windows in my peripheral that would more than likely cause motion sickness and that was not how I wanted the exploring to start.

We initially went to the Cherry Blossom Festival and there were a lot of people there so it was pretty impossible to get a good picture.  Plus the power lines and the street signs were in the way too.  (Exhibit A & B).

After leaving from here we went on to meet up with some other people and walked around some then all went out to eat.  When we were walking around we were able to observe street groups performing choreographed dances, singing, and one beat-boxer.  The dance groups were pretty much just like if you and your friends in high school decided to all get together to put together a dance to a song and perform it in the street.  The singer that we heard was actually really good to the point that some thought it was a recording until seeing him sing.  The beat-boxer on the other hand was pretty whack.  He was good compared to me trying to do it but if there was someone actually good there then they would have wiped the floor with him.  The audience only seemed impressed because it was different from what else was going on and the guy was white so he stood out.

I think that what we ate was called Dak galbi and it was really good.  The meal was a mixture of chicken, noodles, sweet potato, vegetables, rice, rice cake and a sauce that made it spicy.  Also we had side dishes but it all started with a cooked egg?  I thought that was random but I ate it :-)

Afterward we walked around and eventually ended up at a cupcake place that was yummy!  I got an Oreo cupcake and a Strawberry cupcake and was not disappointed :-)  Daniel got something lemon flavored and he liked his too.  The cupcake place was in a random area though so I feel like we won't be able to find it ever again LOL...

This was pretty much the only way to get a clear shot, straight up.  (Obviously not a pretty day but the picture looks kind of cool, like a black and white.)

Good luck trying to get a good picture without people in it here!

This is everyone before the main course came out.

Daniel wanted to cook the eggs.

I was exhausted once we finally made it home but it was good times!

Ecclesiastes 5:18,19
Behold, what I have seen to be good and fitting is to eat and drink and find enjoyment in all the toil with which one toils under the sun the few days of his life that God has given him, for this is his lot.  Everyone also to whom God has given wealth and possessions and power to enjoy them, and to accept his lot and rejoice in his toil--this is the gift of God.
