...surfing, sailing, and snorkelling oh my...

AMAZING!!!

I'll quickly mention in this post that I saw 3 kangaroo run across the road a few nights ago.  Just like the deer back at home.

So if you have ever asked me if I played basketball you got a response along the lines of, "I was on the team in the 7th grade but I don't so much about the playing part."  Well, let's apply that to surfing too now LOL!  I took a class with 2 of my travel mates and I got bumped and bruised all over the sand, water and board.  My arms, thighs, ribs, knees... all sore and bruised.  It was not a pretty picture but a fun experience.  I never got past my knees to stand up but I gave it a real chance!  I do not have any documentation but trust me, I tried (and failed quite miserably lol).  Look up Airlee beach in Australia and you can see the place I tried surfing.  It was the last surf shop on the east coastline headed up to Cairns.

Sailing was spectacular.  The islands that we visited were gorgeous!  The color of the water and the constant relaxing sound of the ocean was perfect.  I did take some sea sickness pills but missed a dose so on the second night I was not feeling well.  The one beach had sand so white and water infinite shades of blue (look up Whitsunday Islands).  We were able to see 3 humpback whales as we sailed through the waters which was super cool.  We also watched as one of the deck hands fed a sea eagle.  Yea I never heard of the until yesterday either so go on ahead and look it up lol.  I actually was able to steer the boat for a minute and helped put the sails up, serious physically hard work!  I've again met more people and the newest place is now France that I've met people from.  One of the girls on the boat was from California and she has been out of the States for several months now, headed back to the US next week.  We clicked well and she shared some of her Asian adventures with me.  Laos is sounding like a real possibility, just sayin :-)  I did try kangaroo meat for the first time in my life.  It was in a "meat pie" and to me just tasted like beef.  The awkward name of the sail boat was... Spank Me. Check it out, pretty cool people there:-)

On the sailing trip we were given the opportunity to snorkel a part of the Great Barrier Reef.  I don't even know the words to describe this experience.  The colors of the fish were mind blowingly gorgeous.  They just swim along as if humans aren't in the water close to the body and goggles and everything.  I was literally swimming beside exotic fish!  Like zebra looking fish, rainbow colored fish, yellow fish, blue fish, black white and yellow fish, silvery blue fish, etc.  What an amazing sight I hope you get to experience  yourself, seriously.  The coral was so many different colors and moved freely.  The motions were so peaceful, simple, in unison and fluid.  It was really a sight all eyes should experience.  I saw fish from different offices I've been in in the States, how cool you know?  There were some weird mouth looking clammy things just like in movies.  It really was quite the sight and experience.  I don't have an underwater camera so am limited, when I post pictures, to just the scenery.  Just know that it is gorgeous, colorful, and better than any pictures I could ever post (as are most of the other pictures I've posted).

There are tons of pictures to post but I am on a public computer and not my laptop so I'll have to wait to post at a later date (sorry you have to suffer through my written descriptions).

Miss your faces!!! :-)

Note to PJ  and Shawn... I went to a barber today and she didn't do too bad.  She has only ever cut one other black persons hair in her life.  Most importantly my waves are still in place although there was no line up done (we knew that was going to happen though).  :-)
