Hostel here I come...

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DADDY!!! :-)

I'll be checking out of my hotel today and heading to my first hostel.  I'm not especially looking forward to this venture but it is cheaper and I will be able to meet people more easily.  I'll still be in Brisbane just in a different area, it is walking distance though so I won't have to get public transportation to get there, I am currently all about walking and being cheap.  I did get my sleeping bag and accompanying things yesterday, not sure where they were exactly but all is well :-)

Last night I went to Surfer's Paradise which was very touristy but a really cool and nice area.  I had some really good Greek cuisine and did a lot of walking around.  That was my first time to the Pacific Ocean ever, and even though I couldn't really see the water that well because of it being night time, I could see the waves.  The fact that what I saw were considered small waves makes me want to go back and see people surf the big waves.  I'll have to head back at some point during my stay here so I can take it all in in the day time.  The batteries in my camera went dead so I again don't have any pictures, but I'm not too sure they would have come out anyway since it was so dark.

There is a really nice park near my hotel and I went and walked around there yesterday.  I listened to music and just took in the different plants and birds (& one very large spider that caused me to about-face upon seeing it).  An English guy at the store where I bought my cell phone suggested an area here that I go to to experience the night life.  It sounded minimally interesting to me because it sounded like bars and clubs.  If you know me you know I've never really been into partying and drinking so add that I am alone and the response he got was a pleasant smile, nod and polite "Oh yea, where is that?"  If my friend makes it to Australia I would be more open to it but can live without the experience.

Breakfast was Green Tea (best ever) and a lobster cream cheese roll :-)

Some pictures from the park before my camera went dead.

  1. Hey kiddo! didnt know u were such a writer. The pics u have taken thus far are excellent. If you can find Lithium Life Energizers. for your camera, they are a little pricy but they last a long time. Mine just died a week ago and I got them in Florida in December. Anyway keep the posts coming!! Love U. By the way Siena was making up names for Ella and started randomly calling her "Lil F_ _ KY" she said it like 4x b4 we realized what she was saying. She still has no clue. Me and Randi almost died!!

    1. Hey Big Bro,
I bought some of those but left them in the US. I have rechargeable Duracell batteries that I'm using now that the cheap ones are done for. LOL about Si, the girls in the hostel laughed too b/c they stared at me when I started laughing. <3
