I'm here!

Hey Sunshines!

I've finally arrived here in Brisbane!!!  Unfortunately I've arrived with one bag less than I left with... Yep, they lost my checked bag.  I knew that was going to happen which is why I only had the sleeping bag checked with 2 pairs of shorts, 2 tank tops and toiletries stuffed in the middle.  I can live without all of those things and while I hope to get it all back, life goes on.  I actually got compensated $100 by the airline as they look for it.

I got in right on time.  The hotel allowed me to check in an hour early which I appreciated because that meant I didn't have to hang out after the long trip.  Of course I was ripped off by the taxi driver but I just couldn't stand to wait for a bus or figure out any other transportation system at the time. Remember I had been traveling over 24 hours and then dealt with the luggage being lost.  Going through boarder control and customs to get into the country was different compared to some people in front of me.  I watched many people before me go through and so when it was my turn I couldn't help but laugh as the lady questioned me for a few minutes more than other people.  I don't think that I'm intimidating looking but I guess with my lack of hair, height, ethnicity and that I was traveling by myself I stand out a bit.  The lady was very nice but much more inquisitive.  I was wished well and safe travels, I think that my smile melted her a bit lol!

After I showered and Skyped with my 'rents I went on a walk in search of an area restaurant and passed several cafes.  I was headed to a Thai restaurant but it was closed so went to the neighboring restaurant.  The owner their was super nice, Terry.  He gave me some tips for where to go tomorrow on my explore day through Brisbane.  He is also going to let me use his locked Wifi for free so I don't have to pay the hotel's $10 wireless fee for a 24 hour period of time, yep ridiculous.  He gave me his number in case I get lost too.  Very nice, not creepy or weird (we all know I've experienced enough of that in my time LOL).

My sleep schedule is way off.  I tried not to go to sleep last night and made it until 5pm their time when I decided I just had to rest my head for a second... 11 hours later and I've been up since 4am.  When I awoke I tried to just lay in the bed but I had slept too long.  I'm planning to make myself stay up all day today by staying out of the hotel as long as possible.

On tv I have seen a lot of Rugby and cricket.  (Also randomly The Nanny, JAG, Becker, and Good Morning  America, what the heck?  We don't have any Australian shows we play regularly, especially not as a hotel's main channel.) The news just showed a crocodile attack of a dog that was with a group hunting wild pigs.  Ladies and gentlemen I am in Australia!

Wilson made it too!  He's quite relaxed :-)

Yea... I only need 1 bed but whatevs :-)

Yummy! Carbonated Lemonade and  a Portuguese inspired Chicken Fillet Burger.

Notice it's "U" and "D" not arrows.

Their money is pretty! (and has women on it too)

NOTE TO EVERYONE:
PLEASE DO NOT CALL OR TEXT MESSAGE ME.  I GET CHARGED FOR INCOMING TEXTS EVEN IF I DON'T OPEN THEM.  I have my phone turned off but if I do turn it on for any reason then messages come through and I do not want to have to pay for them.  THANK YOU!!!

See ya! Miss ya! Love ya!

  2. Hi Big Brother,

1st of all LOVE HER! Give her a squeeze for me. We'll have to Skype one night. I got a phone, Carmen is supposed to send you the number. It's cheaper than AT&T had me pay for the international calling but still only really for emergencies and not everyday use b/c I pay for each phone call and not each minute.
