Long time no write, right?
Again I blame the fact that Wi-Fi here is so ridiculous on my failure to
update you all. The hostel in Townsville
tried to charge $6/hr for Wi-Fi so that was a big ol’ FAIL as far as me paying
for it. I did however have a 4 bed
hostel room to myself, which included a mini fridge so that was nice.
At one point, while still in Cairns, I succeeded in losing
my phone for a few hours. My travel mate
actually obtained it from some lovely person that called people trying to get
it to me. I informed my family and some
friends that I lost the phone doing absolutely nothing… All the days I’ve been adventurous and
actually active and the day I lost it I was sitting at the lagoon in Cairns
people watching. All is well and I have
it back so I can continue to make minimal calls to my mom and occasional
friend.
I went to Cape Tribulation and Daintree while I was staying
in Cairns. I took a road trip up there
with Joe and one of my new roommates. The
new roommate was French and amazing. He
made me laugh without trying mainly because of his accent but also because he
was so energetic. He played some French
rap music for me and I couldn’t help but laugh.
I could hear that the artist was angry in his tone but he sounded pretty
still because it was in French!?!
Anyway, while in the rainforest the guys wanted to see crocodiles. I just wanted to take pictures of the scenery
and did not venture out with them as they went in search of the wild creatures
(which they did not come upon). We
stopped in Port Douglas on the way back down.
We sat outside and ate the type of food a college freshman would eat and
some little girl asked us if we were homeless.
In her defense, we were in a random location in the evening with a weird
mix of food. We all laughed and let her
know we were not poor despite our appearance.
I traveled on my own
down to Townsville via Greyhound bus.
This was actually a pleasant experience unlike the infamous “cutie
gangsta” situation of 2006 (LOL). I did
another murderous hike that was all uphill while at Castle Hill, to get to the
lookout. I again allowed people to pass
me and again had to pause several times on my way up. When I was close to the top some random
middle aged Aussie man fed me an encouraging word (yes, I looked that
exhausted). I hovered at the top for a
while to get the perfect picture (or to catch my breath and curse myself for
going up, whatevs). The way down was
much more manageable and enjoyable. I
visited the Queens Garden (loved it) and walked around a bit that day as
well. For me Townsville was conquered in
2 days because the next day I walked around and down their main drag along the
beach. I also talked with a couple of
aboriginal people (I’ve seen a lot but haven’t had a conversation with any).
Okay this is long enough, I’ll update you on the rest later
:-)
At the end of this stream/creek is a pool of blue water (water hole).
Here it is! I was told that it was blue because there is topaz at the bottom... So pretty and such a perfect location, really. It was one of the most peaceful locations I have been to in my entire life.
So that means we need to turn around because...
...clearly this is not 4WD lol... And we walk...
...and now I do not want to walk too much more... LOL
Just a short walk through some wooded area...
Welcome to the beach, where you should not get in the water because of the crocodiles OR jellyfish!?! lol
Love,
Me
It still looks amazingly beautiful there! I love the water hole! I'm glad you are having a good time, and I hope the rest of your trip is just as good, if not better! Miss you!
ReplyDeleteKristy e-mail me and update me on your life! Thanks and miss you too :-)
