...hmmm... about this hostel living thing.

It was sprinkling rain as I walked to the hostel this morning.  The walk took less than 20min and I listened to my mp3 as I walked (I have repeatedly been listening to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and the W.L.A.K. albums since I left the US).  My first impression of the facility was that it looked decent enough.  I get inside and the reception people checked me in quickly and briefly explained things as I paid.  I have 4 female roommates (from Montreal, Ireland, and 2 from Holland), similar to college living except this is like a big dorm room with bunk beds and a community bathroom for females only.  It looks like 4 girls live in here with a pathway through belongings to my top bunk (with a ladder pinned against the wall which makes it hard to get up and down).  I immediately miss my hotel room, but at least everyone is nice :-)

I did a lot of walking around today, I'm really trying to tire myself out so I will sleep more than a few hours a night and not keep waking up at 4am and 5am for the day.  I charged my batteries last night so I was able to take lots of pictures as I ventured out and about today.  Enjoy Brisbane!

On my walk to the hostel from my hotel...

These have been the most common bird that I've seen.

I found myself unintentionally in the Brisbane Botanical garden, gorgeous!

At the end of the garden was this lovely sight :-)

This crazy growing tree took over this fence!

View from by the art museum and cultural center.

More of the view

Cool looking structure along my walk...

A couple of these beautiful mosaics were in the ground along the pathway.

So, this is a random man made city beach in the middle of a flower park/garden area. There were legit lifeguards and everything!
Apparently it's a "Streets Beach," cool concept.

Pretty walk through area.

I love it when old buildings are surrounded by new ones...

A church surrounded by city scrapers and urban living.

    1. I have not idea when I'll be where or when. I still need to figure out their transportation system. If I could walk everywhere that would make me happy. So would driving but I'd probably die b/c of the traffic patterns being so different.
